Summer updates - videos, pictures and playlists, oh my!

Holy moly, Reader... I blinked and it's August!?!

[Insert surprised gif here]

I wanted to start off by thanking everyone who sent me encouraging words after my last email. I really do love when you respond to my emails and give me advice/ tell me what you think/ ask questions. The Columbia scoliosis presentation went pretty well (I think). I was only a few seconds over my 7 minute time limit - better than some of my fellow presenters, which made me feel good. Guess I wasn't the only one who tried to cram too much into a short amount of time!

My dear friend and colleague Dr. Beth Terranova was kind enough to video it, and since some of you asked, I'm sharing it below. Just click the button - and if you watch it, please respond and let me know what you think!

We also had an amazing scoliosis/ fusion meet up in the city that evening, which was honestly so healing. As someone growing up all alone with this big diagnosis and asymmetrical body, I felt so isolated and alone. It was lovely to be able to meet up with women from all different backgrounds and walks of life to share our experiences.

Here are some pictures of the meet up!

My friends Meredith of the Bionic Project and Dr. Beth are doing another one next month!! I wish I could be there but sadly commuting regularly to Manhattan is... not something I can do right now. Maybe some day!

(And if you're a Southeastern scoli or fused friend, reply and let me know if you'd like me to organize something here in Atlanta!!)

In unrelated news - like many others around the world, I have fallen victim to the K-pop bug. (Anyone else watch K-pop Demon Hunters and subsequently get the whole soundtrack stuck in your head? Just me?) I think the whole empowerment vibe plus the upbeat tuneage really lifts my mood in a time when there's so much that worries me, both in the country and the world.

Anyway, I went hunting for similar vibed songs and created a K-pop Spotify playlist that I thought I'd share in case anyone else is in dire need of some positive poppy goodness in your life. I made it public - check it out and if you're digging it, make sure to hit the plus sign to add it to your library to find it again!

So that said, with the summer chaos I haven't had enough bandwidth to follow through with my Create intention this year - but I'm hitting it hard now. Planning some blog content with a focus on the pelvic floor as I've been all scoliosis all summer long, dropping a poll below for you to tell me what you want to read about!

Some of my older blogs that you likely haven't seen but may find interesting are:

-The Diaphragm, the Pelvic Floor and Athletic Capacity

-Hypermobile: Bendy Bodies

-Age Proof Your Spine

Also planning on starting to release episodes of ScoliPod this fall! Getting logistics finalized and you know I'll let you know once it drops!

Okay, this was a longer newsletter this time. Guess that happens when I don't email for two months ::face palm::

IF you're still reading, thank you and as always, I love when you reply and let me know how you are and what you think about all the things.

Sending you cool thoughts for those of you in the Northern Hemisphere - and I guess temperate thoughts for my friends in the Southern!

With love,

Hey there, Reader... been a while since I've written ya. Not on purpose by any means, believe me. I really do hope you're doing well. To be honest with you, this year has been difficult for me, in many ways. Between full-time patient care out of two locations, trying to be a present parent for two school-aged kids with all their activities, and managing my chronic conditions I've found myself wholly unable to do so many of the things I aspire to do for you and anyone who trusts me to provide...

Hello again, just a last minute reminder to anyone who was wanting to sign up for the free nervous system regulation masterclass tomorrow. Totally free & open to anyone who'd be interested in joining, no strings attached, no sales pitches at the end... just a way to give you some strategies I've learned to regulate and calm myself that have been successful for me and the people I've worked with over the past 14 years. A calmer, more regulated nervous system is more resilient to the stressors...
